Owl Stuff's goal is to help you help owls.
This isn't a big business...I'm just an owl lover doing what I can to help owls. The Owl Stuff "store" is located in a spare bedroom, and I have a "real" job: I'm the director of the Houston Nature Center and coordinator of the International Festival of Owls. I like to be treated well, and I'll do our best to treat you as I'd like to be treated.
Alice the Great Horned Owl, my education bird, started my love affair with owls. She broke her wing when she fell out of her nest in 1997, and is permanently injured. Since she imprinted on humans and therefore considers herself a human, she likes (demands!) a lot of attention. Because of her need for attention and the threat of West Nile Virus, she actually lives in my house, in the room next to the Owl Stuff office.
I am working on a vocal study on Great Horned Owls, using Alice's vocalizations and behaviors as a base. Some Owl Stuff proceeds will be used to help build caging for a captive breeding pair of Great Horned Owls to be used in my vocal study. Direct contributions to this research can be made through the Owl Research Institute. Contact me for details.
